Special U.S. Small Cap Value Equity

The investment team constructs a diversified small-cap equity portfolio using a disciplined investment process that combines rigorous research with a certified public accountant's (CPA's) accounting insight to uncover underappreciated and misunderstood high-quality companies. The strategy buys companies with a market capitalization of less than $2 billion and incorporates quantitative screens as well as fundamental analysis, focusing on several key factors:

  • Solid assets and balance sheet
  • Good industries
  • Manageable debt
  • Cash flows

Companies are valued on an intrinsic value basis while monitoring the risk/reward payoff in order to manage total portfolio volatility. The team, which includes two CPAs, seeks to deliver above-average long-term results, and returns are maximized by optimizing price (valuation) and time (market sentiment).
